Paint protection film, or PPF, is a clear, flexible urethane film applied over your car's paint. It takes the hits so your paint does not, which is why it is sometimes called clear bra.
What PPF protects against
- Rock chips from highway driving
- Bug splatter and bird droppings that can etch paint
- Light scratches and swirl marks
- Road salt, tar and debris
- UV fading on exposed panels
Most quality films are also self healing: light scratches disappear with heat from the sun or warm water.
Coverage options
Partial front
Front bumper plus the leading edge of the hood and fenders. The most affordable way to protect the highest impact areas.
Full front
The entire bumper, full hood, full fenders and mirrors. No visible film line on the hood, and the most popular choice for new cars.
Full body
Every painted panel. Maximum protection for high value or collectible vehicles.
Is PPF worth it?
PPF makes the most sense if you:
- Drive a lot of highway miles, including I-75 and I-285
- Have a new car or fresh paint
- Have a dark or special color that shows chips
- Plan to keep the car or protect resale value
PPF vs ceramic coating
PPF is physical armor. Ceramic coating is a chemical layer for gloss and easier cleaning. Read the full comparison in PPF vs ceramic coating.
How PPF pricing works at Crush
PPF is quoted for your vehicle first, because coverage, vehicle size and paint condition all affect the price. If your paint has swirls or chips, paint correction before film gives the best result.

Frequently asked questions
How long does PPF last?
Quality film typically lasts many years with proper care. Ask about warranty details when you request a quote.
Can you see the film?
Quality PPF is nearly invisible. Full panel coverage avoids visible edges on the hood.
Can I wash a car with PPF?
Yes. Hand washing is best. Avoid pressure washing directly at film edges.
