Look at a dark car in direct sunlight and you will often see fine circular scratches called swirl marks. They come from automatic car washes, dirty towels and improper drying. Paint correction removes them.

What paint correction is

Paint correction uses machine polishers and abrasive compounds to remove a microscopic layer of clear coat, leveling the surface so light reflects evenly again. The result is deep gloss and clarity.

What it fixes

  • Swirl marks and spider webbing
  • Light scratches that have not gone through the clear coat
  • Water spot etching
  • Oxidation and dullness
  • Holograms from poor previous polishing

What it cannot fix

Scratches that catch your fingernail have often gone through the clear coat and may need touch up or paint. Rock chips need touch up paint.

Why correct before PPF or coating

Both paint protection film and ceramic coatings seal in whatever is underneath. Correcting first means you lock in perfect paint, not swirls.

Pricing

Paint correction at Crush Customs is $950. Book it online, or request a PPF quote and ask about correction before film.

Keep it swirl free

  • Use the two bucket wash method
  • Use clean microfiber towels
  • Skip automatic brush car washes

Frequently asked questions

How long does paint correction take?

It is a detailed, multi step process, so plan for your car to stay at the shop. We confirm timing when you book.

Does paint correction thin my clear coat?

It removes a microscopic layer. Done properly, there is plenty of clear coat left for years of normal care.

Should I do correction before tint or interior work?

Correction is exterior only, so it can be done any time. If you are getting PPF, do correction first.
