Fresh tint needs a little time to settle. Follow these steps and your film will look perfect for years.

Keep your windows up

Keep roll down windows closed for at least 3 to 5 days after install. Rolling them down early can catch the bottom edge of the film before the adhesive bonds, causing peeling.

Curing time

Tint is installed with a slip solution so the installer can position it. That moisture has to evaporate through the film. In warm Georgia weather, curing is often complete within a week or two. In cooler weather it can take longer.

Haze and small bubbles are normal at first

While moisture is still under the film, you may see slight haziness or small water pockets. These usually disappear on their own as the film cures. Do not push on them.

Bubbles that remain after a few weeks, or that look like air or dirt rather than water, should be checked by your installer.

How to clean tinted windows

  • Wait about a week before cleaning the inside of the glass.
  • Use an ammonia free cleaner. Ammonia can break down film over time.
  • Use a soft microfiber cloth, never paper towels or abrasive pads.
  • Avoid scrapers and sharp objects near the film edges.

Other tips

  • Be careful with seat belt buckles and cargo against rear glass.
  • Avoid suction cup mounts on tinted glass.
  • Rear defroster lines are safe once the film has cured.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wash my car after tint?

Yes. Exterior washing is fine right away. Wait about a week before cleaning the inside of the windows.

Why does my tint look hazy?

Haze is usually leftover moisture and clears as the film cures.

What if my tint starts peeling?

Contact your installer. Peeling edges in the first days are usually from rolling windows down too early.
